Merry Christmas!

It's hard to believe it is that time of year again!  All of the hustle and bustle and then it is over!  I wanted to wish you all a happy and healthy holiday season.

In the spirit of the holiday season I wanted to share a little last minute gift card holder.  I have had this little file on my Silhouette Cameo for quite a while and have finally had the opportunity to use it.  It came together pretty quickly and I love the result.  The pattern paper is from Papertrey Ink's Pure Poppy collection.  The kraft cardstock is from the Recollection brand.  I find that it is the perfect weight to use in my Cameo.

I have to admit I have had a love-hate relationship with that little machine.  It seems I could never get the right combo of paper weight and blade depth.  All of the little things that everyone has cut out with their Cameo seems to look fantastic.  Mine usually looks like a shredded mess!   I don't know if it is just me or if others have had this problem but it had me so frustrated to the point that I didn't use the thing at all!  I finally played around with it and I still have some issues to work out but I am happy that I was able to get something cut out!!  This is by no means perfect, but it sends the holiday message, with a little treat tucked inside too!  Hope you like it!

I added a little red Stickle for the nose.  Just enough sparkle!!

The Silhouette file can be found here:

Modern Whimsy: Tag

Hello again!  I just wanted to share a little tag I made for the Make It Monday Challenge.  This is my final project to share.  I ended up typing the sentiment on my computer and printing it out.  I then die cut the tag using a tag from My Favorite Things Die-Namics Traditional Tags STAX.  I added a little washi tape and some snowflakes to the corner to add some Modern Whimsy Flair!  Hope you like it!

Just in case you were wondering, the fonts I used were California Harvest and Penelope Anne.  I thought the combo was fresh and whimsy!!

That's it for me, I hope you enjoyed stopping by to visit.

Hello friends!  Just stopping in to share another card I made for the Make It Monday Challenge.  This card is very similar to my previous card but I changed up the colors a bit.  Hope you like it!

I have to say that I am liking that vellum!  I have had it in my stash for quite some time and never really knew what to do with it!  It just adds such a nice touch without being too distracting.

Modern Whimsy: Card #2

Hello friends.  I am back with you again to share another card I made for the Make It Monday Challenge over at Nichole Heady's blog.  This card is very similar to the one that Danielle Flanders created on the video, in fact it is pretty much the same other than the paper and dies so I can't take any credit for the design.  I changed out the dies, since I didn't have the exact ones, but the snowflakes are my favorite!  I love the layering that Danielle did on her card and it has inspired me to try it out.  Also, I am starting to dig into my patterned paper and start to cut it up.  If you have been following me for a bit of time, you know I have issues with that!!

Also, you will notice that there is NO KRAFT PAPER on this card!!  I know, right?  Did you think I fell and hit my head?  Well I didn't, I actually went outside of the box on this one and used STARK WHITE PAPER!!  There is something about the white and vellum and patterned paper that was very striking.  It is fresh and new and I think I may have stumbled upon something here.  My kraft is going to get jealous!

I actually made this card for my boss for Christmas for all the staff to sign.  Although when I was thinking about what I was going to make the creativity wasn't anywhere around. That is until I saw the Make It Monday video, very inspirational and just the kick in the pants that I needed.

To make the stars I used the same technique from this Make It Monday video.  I think this is going to become a very popular technique in my craft room.  Hopefully Santa will bring me some glitter in my stocking *wink*wink*  I can already see that I am poorly lacking in that department because frankly I didn't know what to do with it until now and it scared me a little.

That is all for today, thanks for stopping by!

Modern Whimsy Style

Hello friends!  Today I played along with the Make it Monday challenge.  Danielle Flanders is one of my favorite paper crafters and I was thrilled to see her video this week.  Her style is sophisticated with a vintage twist, very pretty!!  Anyhoo, since I wanted to try out some new dies that I recently purchased, I figured this card would be perfect to showcase them.  Hope you like it!

 Here is a closer view.

I am in love with the Rustic Wreath Die from Papertrey Ink!  Also, these One-Liner dies could end up being pretty valuable in my stash!

Thank you for stopping by!

Make It Monday #141: Adding Glitter with Heat and Stick Embossing Powder

Hello everyone!  Just wanted to share some little goodies I made for my friend for Thanksgiving.  She wanted to have little favors for her guests this Thanksgiving.  I came up with these little packages to hold some sweet little chocolate turkeys.  The glassine bag was the perfect size and I absolutely loved the way they turned out.  During my creative process, I wanted to dress up the clothes pins and I thought of the Make it Monday video this week and thought that would be the perfect touch.

I trimmed a piece of coordinating paper to fit the clothes pin and used the technique described in the video to cover the clothes pin with glitter.  It was perfect since I was dealing with little candies and did not want the glitter to be all over the place, sticking to everything.  It was perfect since the heat "set" the glitter.  Not to mention the fact that it took it up a notch!!

The pumpkins were die cut from the Primitive Pumpkins die from My Favorite Things.  The leaves were punched with a leaf punch from Recollections.  I of course used my favorite little shipping tags and doilies!!  Can't get enough of those little things!
The sentiments were from Papertrey Ink's Think Big Favorites #19. The paper I used for the Pumpkins and leaves were from Stampin' Up! a couple of years ago.  I love the color and texture of that paper, probably why I hoarded it!!

Thank you for stopping by to take a look!

Papertrey Ink Blog Hop: Wreaths

Hello everyone! I just wanted to share a card I made for the Papertrey Ink's September Blog Hop.
I have been holding onto a bag that I got from a little country store and I loved the kraft and black combination!  I used it as my inspiration for my project.  The look is very primitive, and when I saw the blog hop theme was wreaths, I thought now is the perfect time to use it!

The inspiration bag is pictured below.  I can already see some other possibilities!!

I punched out some prim stars out of black cardstock with a little punch from EK Success.
The wreath is from a Close To My Heart stamp set called Remarkable Wreath.  I didn't have the wreath set from PTI so I used that one instead.  The PTI supplies I used were Think Big Favorites #24, Sew Simple Borders and Classic Kraft cardstock.

This card is very simple as it only has two colors but I think it turned out pretty neat.

Homespun Gratitude

Hello everyone!  Hope this finds you well.  I just wanted to share a with you a project that I made for the Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday #130 Challenge: Using Heat N' Bond to Make Fabric Die Cuts.  I had another project in mind, bought all the supplies for it, then found out my alphabet dies were too small.  So I went another route.....  This little bucket is what I ended up with for my project.  The Thankful die is from PTI's Counting My Blessings die set.  I didn't have a pumpkin or leaves from PTI so I used one of the primitive pumpkins from My Favorite Things stamp set.  I used some homespun fabric and also some Classic Kraft felt from PTI.  The canvas ribbon is from The Paper Studio from Hobby Lobby.  I topped off the pumpkin with a little PTI button threaded with twine.  Hope you like it!

Although it wasn't what I had planned, I am happy with the result.  This could be used to give treats away at Thanksgiving, a hostess gift, or let everyone at Thanksgiving fill out a little slip of paper saying what they are thankful for this year.  I am already thinking of how I could decorate the little cards.

Papertrey Ink: Stamp-A-Faire Breakfast Bake & Take Challenge

Hello everyone!  I don't know about you but my summer has been BUSY!  I apologize for my absence lately, but I promise I will be getting back on track soon.  I just wanted to share with you one of the cards I made for a challenge on Papertrey Ink's Stamp-a-faire event this weekend.  I wanted to play along all day with the challenges, but my weekend was very hectic.  I was however able to squeeze out one project.

The challenge was to pick one of the sketches along with one of the color schemes found here.  I chose this sketch:

And I chose this color scheme:
It was fun to step out of my comfort zone and try something different.

Teacher Thank You Card

It is hard to believe that school is out and Summer is in full swing!  I don't know where the time went!!  This school year seemed to fly by!  I am so sad that Emma will be leaving her teacher, she was amazing!  Emma has really lucked out the past two years and had fantastic teachers.  Anyhoo, here is my card, I hope you like it!

I packaged the card in a glassine bag topped with a doily and tag.  I love packaging cards like that since I feel they are a gift in itself.  The tag was tea stained and topped with an apple die cut from the Teacher's Apple die.

I got the idea for the little garland from a card that Melissa Phillips made some time ago.  I can't seem to find it otherwise I would link you to it. The paper I picked for the card is from Basic Grey's Oxford Collection.  I also used Classic Kraft and Vintage Cream from PTI.  The stamp sets I used are PTI's Teach & Inspire and Heart-2-Heart #3.

The "Thank You" sentiment was stamped onto a banner from the Bountiful Banners die.  The "ABC" was die cut using the Block Alphabet die and adhered to tags die cut from the Tiny Tags die.

I love this saying!  It is just perfect for teachers of young children......precious!  I stamped the Library Card onto Vintage Cream cardstock.  I also stamped the tree image from the Teach & Inspire set.

I tucked a gift card behind the library card inside the pocket.  I die cut the pocket from the Library Pocket Die from PTI and stamped the lined image from the Teach & Inspire set across the pocket.  I also stitched around the edges of the paper.  I love how this turned out.  I played around with layers and pattern paper for lots of texture.  Emma was so excited to take this little gift to her teacher.

I hope you enjoyed stopping by today!

Make It Monday: Overlapping Ombre

Hope you are having a wonderful day so far!  I played along with the Papertrey Ink: Make It Monday: Overlapping Ombre challenge over at Nichole Heady's blog.  This was a super quick card that I whipped up for a masculine birthday card.  Hope you like it!

I kept it really simple and only used one stamp set,  Sketched Shapes Stamp Set from Papertrey Ink.  I used Spring Moss, Ripe Avocado and Smokey Shadow ink from PTI along with Olive ink from Close To My Heart.  I finished the card off with a bit of twine tied through the top of the card.  I punched a few circles out and stamped them with the images from the set.  I popped them up and adhered to the banners to add a little dimension.

Enjoy your day with your special loved ones on this Father's Day.  We are going to keep it simple and relaxed today, the way my hubby likes it!

Thanks for stopping by!

Simon Says Stamp Challenge: Transport

Hello everyone!  Hope all is well.  I played along with the Simon Says Stamp Challenge: Transport over at the Simon Says Stamp Challenge Blog.  I thought it would be fun since I had to make a Father's Day card and who wouldn't like a chance to win a gift certificate, right?  So anyhoo, here is my card, hope you like it!!
The little banners under the tag were made with the Epiphany Crafts punch.  I also used the circle bubbles from Epiphany Crafts to add a little extra dimension.

The car was stamped twice, once on the tag and again on some cardstock from the Basic Grey Oxford Collection.  I then hand cut the car and popped it up on dimensionals.  I used some rhinestones from Stampin' Up! as the headlights.  The car stamp is from the On The Move set from Kaisercraft and the sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.
I also stapled some banners randomly on the inside of the card for a fun look.  I then added a strip of coordinating cardstock to the inside to finish it off.

My next project was to make a gift box for my Father-In-Law.  It is 8x8 and I made it with my Martha Stewart scoring board and two 12x12 sheets of cardstock.  The card was also made from the same coordinating paper pad "The Guy Stack" from DCWV.  I packaged the card in a clear bag and adhered the card to the belly band that went around the box.  That way it could be part of the packaging instead of using a bow.  I tucked a personalized T-Shirt from InkPixi in the box.  It fit perfectly!
Hope you enjoyed today's projects!
